On a previous visit to Shark Bay, I was taken with the contrast of intense red sands, white sands and clear turquoise water. I had never seen it from the air but believed it held great aerial photography opportunities. I usually prefer helicopters for aerial shoots but this time we used planes with local pilots. Our pilot took us on his usual route, doing tight turns to allow people to shoot directly down onto the landscape. From past experience with photographers, he thought he knew what angles we would want. But I asked him to make a smoother approach and traverse the landscape below so we could get some different shots, and to give us time to shoot for stitched panoramas. This part of Shark Bay is known as The Tree and the patterns here are caused by tidal shifts. But I think there are more shapes to be seen that just a tree. For me its about the textures, colours and patterns. Ill leave it up to you to find your own story in this beautiful location.
