This image was taken back in the 1880s - in the days when photography was all about capturing images and not about Photoshop skills. There were bushfires raging on the NSW South Coast, which gave this sunset an ethereal glow. As I approached the beach entry, I stopped dead in my tracks. I felt as if I was entering into a portal, inviting me into something special and I wanted to capture this before going down to the beach. After this shot, I continued on to the beach and captured one of my Hall of Fame images Stairway to Heaven . I still believe photography is not about technicalities, Photoshop, or filters - It's about being sensitive enough to capture majestic moments.
