A southerly storm draws a curtain across this spectacular sunrise view of Avoca Beach. I never cease to be amazed at the variety of sunrises, even at local beaches that I have visited many times before. From day to day, and from month to month, the clouds and weather patterns transform the mornings in countless never-before-seen configurations. Here, the mix of blues, pinks and whites - thrown together like the patterns of an opal - lend this scene a magnificent sense of mood and presence. The brooding darkness of the storm adds great drama to the shot, and raises the question: What will this day bring?
