Reflected in the waters of Victoria Harbour, this twilight view of Melbournes Docklands appears here as a riot of luminous colour. In the centre is the Telstra Dome, one of the citys finest sporting venues, with its massive retractable roof. Grand plans are now transforming the historic wharves into one of the worlds premier waterside addresses, with a host of restaurants, apartments, parklands and commercial ventures. To capture this shot, I gained access to an abandoned observation tower though I had to wait many days for the right weather. On this night, the harbour was as smooth as a mirror; even passing boats were like ice-skaters gliding on a pond. Here the head and tail lights of a security vehicle (coming to check us out!) can be seen as a trail in the bottom right hand corner, in what turned out to be a spectacular four-minute exposure.
