Its a rare moment when passing wildlife stops to pose for a landscape photographer! Here at days end in Kosciusko National Park, as the suns last rays were working their way beautifully up the hillside, four kangaroos decided to hop through my carefully composed shot. In the background was the old Coolamine Homestead. At this time of day a long exposure of about eight seconds was required. I felt sure these uninvited creatures would move and blur my shot. Amazingly they just stood stock still and stared towards the camera! The result was a very moody sunset view of Australias hill country, the kangaroos presence emerging as a subtle detail from the shadows. Who could have asked for more? What I thought would never work turned out to be an amazing gift.
