The gorges of Karijini National Park are like treasures. Out of sight, above these cliffs, is the desert wilderness of the Pilbara. But in these deep half-hidden gorges - which in Karijini form an interlinking system - there is wonderful colour and spring-fed water all year round. This is the "End Pool" in Weano Gorge, which for us was a little rest spot before a very precipitous climb down into the area of Junction Pool. The mineral colours were amazing: the reds from iron ore, the blues from asbestos. In this vertical shot, the rock formations not only framed a subtle waterfall, but also provided a stark backdrop for a remarkable tree. Somehow it had established a hold, sending its roots scurrying across the rock to draw upon the moisture within.

Every effort has been made on this Gallery site to accurately represent the vibrant colours of Ken’s images. However, due to differences in computer screens and certain other variations, the images here should only to be taken as a guide.
The colour and sharpness of a finished Ken Duncan Limited Edition Print are far superior to what can be presented on a small screen.
