In this composite, an old stone wall frames a shot of a brightly-coloured canola field. The wall is from the ruin of a South Australian homestead. Though long abandoned, the home is still pleasing to the eye, especially in the textures and patterns of its stone and mortar walls. In places like this, you can almost hear the whispered memories of days long past, the dreams of those early pioneers who first conquered the land. The canola photograph, with its vivid yellow and green crop (and graceful cloud-flecked sky), comes from a working property not far away. The juxtaposition of the two shots brings new life to an old farmhouse: here the window looks out on the modern fulfilment of a dream.
