Fraser Island, off the southern Queensland coast, is one of the largest sand islands in the world. Wanggoolba Creek winds its way through the dunes and tropical rainforests on the island for many kilometres. Its crystal clear water is due to the remarkable filtering ability of the find sand particles. This shot shows water nearly one metre deep! I captured this scene soon after a small shower of rain. The sun has again returned and rays of light can be seen penetrating the dense canopy and palm fronds.
