Often in photography, many elements have to come together to create something special. Everything has its time: the key is to be patient and wait for the magic moment. Each time I drove past this lake, I found the vista intriguing, but not quite right. On this particular morning, driving back to Narooma after shooting a sunrise, the light and reflections were simply breathtaking. But I was heading for breakfast, so I nearly didnt stop. I tried to talk myself out of how fantastic the moment was. After driving on for a few hundred metres, I realised I had to turn around and go back. I got all set up to shoot the scene and then, right on cue, a couple in canoes glided into the frame, which helps give the image scale. With the moment immortalised, I was able to really enjoy my breakfast.
