Taken just an hour apart, this pair of dream-like studies beautifully depicts the transformation of a scene that can come with a change in the light. The first portrait, painted with the delicate pinks of sunrise, shows a lone wooden dinghy in the subdued softness of dawn. By the time the second picture was taken, the sun had touched the sky and water with brilliant blue.
