If you travel down the Stuart Highway from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, youll soon come upon a strange collection of hundreds of boulders, some as big as houses, strewn across a spinifex valley in imposing and even impossible positions. Made of granite and rounded by erosion and flaking, their official name, the "Devil s Marbles", implies a diabolical origin - as if the devil had thrown them down with mischievous carelessness. I prefer to think of them as the handiwork of a Creator who does nothing haphazardly.
