The rising sun finds a rift in the clouds, throwing its glory over the rippled dunes of Eucla. It is like a scene discovered on some uninhabited planet. The lines of sand are smooth and wonderfully untouched. I have always loved sand dunes for the way they illustrate in fast motion natures ability to deal with the damaging presence of humans. We may walk all over them, but the wind just blows away our footprints. Even this truth is something of a double-edged sword. Why should nature be constantly mending our own carelessness? We need to work in harmony with our home. We need to realize we have responsibilities to look after our beautiful planet, so that nature doesnt always have to repair our damage.
