You'll never know, unless you go! To reach this location near the summit of Cradle Mountain, we left camp hours before sunrise. Walking through a virtual steam room of eerie cloud mist, we were thinking perhaps we would see nothing. But we kept going, hoping for the best. As we neared the summit, suddenly the cloud began to clear. Then, as the sun came up, the light was playing with the expanse of cloud before us, dissipating it in places and creating a swirling, waterfall effect. I was so glad we had persevered and not allowed our doubts to prevent us from witnessing this glorious spectacle. Some people think wild weather is bad and that clear skies are best for photography. In fact, wild weather can produce wonderful light and dramatic skies. On this morning, Cradle Mountain lived up to its reputation for wild weather patterns. What a wonderful way to start a day.
