I almost missed this photograph. The mist had closed in and it had started to snow. It was so cold that I retreated to my vehicle and started driving back to my hotel. But then the possibilities of this scene began to present themselves to my mind. I knew I had to turn back. This shot was my reward. In spite of the dull light, I found the view wonderfully captured a slice of life in the Sequoia forest. The massive tree on the left was delightfully complemented by the child-like evergreen at its foot. It was like a "father and son" in the midst of the all-embracing winter. I could imagine the ancient giant saying to the youngster: "Watch! I m going to show you how to survive in the forest!"
