A canopy of glorious gold-red leaves fans out over the softness of a Massachusetts river. To me, the serenity of this scene is reminiscent of a Japanese painting. The rich colours of the canopy are beautifully balanced by the earthy textures of the tree trunks and by the ethereal, cloud-like water. In nature, everything is gloriously intertwined by the God of Creation. Even the seasons flow seamlessly one into another. These leaves are at the end of their life cycle, displaying a brilliant rush of colour before they fall into the water. The river will carry them away, but soon a new season will arise and life will be reborn.
