This reflected image of mountains in a flooded salt flat seemed to come out of nowhere. Passing storms had dumped rain across this whole area of the Guadalupe Mountains. When I arrived here it was blowing a gale, and there were no reflections at all. I felt to wait. By chance, there was an old fallen sign by the side of the road which we were able to drag onto the sinking mud and use as a platform. (From the road, it looked like I was standing on water!) I waited for hours on that little platform. Finally, the clouds scattered across the scene into this letter-X formation, the light broke through and the wind stopped. It was a gift I could only attribute to the hand of God, as I captured this vibrant pattern of mirrored rock and sky.
