This photo was one of the greatest gifts of my American journey - a once-in-a-lifetime rainbow shot of Colorado\'s Yankee Boy Basin. I had been searching for that quintessential shot of wildflowers in a mountain setting. Arriving here, I was plagued not only by some very bland light but also by a crowd of other (not all helpful!) photographers. So I left. Returning later in the day, I found myself alone, with the weather looking even worse. But I set up and waited. It began to rain - for two hours or more - then there was a huge clap of thunder and a bolt of lightning and the rain came down even harder! But ten minutes later the breakthrough came - a shaft of heavenly light that touched the snow-specked slopes and spring flowers with a glorious double arc of colour.
