Grinnel Lake presents an amazing scene virtually unchanged since the time of the early explorers. I loved the haunting mountains, the pure white stretches of snow, the waterfall trickling down the right hand slopes and the almost unbelievable emerald of the lake. To reach this location in time for the right light, we had to hike quite a distance in the very early morning. On our way, we came suddenly upon a large grizzly bear! We sort of surprised each other - but fortunately the bear paid us no heed. We found out later that there had been a very severe grizzly attack in the same area some weeks earlier. Thank the Lord we were protected. There is both beauty and danger in the wilderness.
