Manarola is probably the most photographed of the Cinque Terre towns and certainly one of the most picturesque. I spent hours in Manarola waiting to see how the light would fall as the sun was setting. While I waited, I didn't t really shoot much, as I really didn't t feel there was anything magical or dramatic happening. But throughout my wait, hundreds of other photographers came, took photos and left. I wondered if maybe I was missing something. Many had their trusty phones, but many also had very expensive photographic equipment. After the sun had set, I was still there waiting. Some of the last photographers looked at me as they left, as if there was something wrong with me. I just gave them each a casual nod goodbye. Finally, as the lights of the town came on, this quaint little coastal haven lit up like a Christmas tree, with the house lights twinkling in the twilight afterglow. And I was the last man standing. So I m certain no one else got to capture this particular moment.
