Elephants understand there is protection in numbers and strength in unity, so they are well equipped to handle most potential dangers. Probably their greatest threat is from the ever-expanding human population. On my return from this area, I struck up a conversation with a fellow passenger on the plane and casually asked him how he had enjoyed his trip and what hed been up to. He told me he had been shooting elephants, so I asked him what type of camera he was using. To my horror, he explained he had shot them with a gun. I was dumbstruck! What do you say to such a person? From that moment on, the conversation between us died. It is tragic that elephants are under threat from humanity, when we consider ourselves so evolved. Clearly, some are more evolved than others! But we should all help protect these magnificent families, for they too are part of Gods creation. Whether large or small, we should make room for all, because it is the diversity that makes our world such a wonderful place.
