When I was about 28, after working for many years in the photographic industry, I'very nearly bought a ketch. My friend and I decided we d had enough of city living and thought what a grand adventure it would be to sail off around the world in a classic old boat with loads of charm. Fortunately, I resisted that urge but it was a very close call. Several years later, while photographing for my second book, I had a chance to visit Hamilton Island where the owner, Keith Williams, graciously allowed me the use of his helicopter to get some images to help promote his dream island. While we were out shooting Hardy s Reef, I saw this yacht anchored in the middle of the coral atoll. I thought how lucky these travellers were to be in such an idyllic location. It seemed to me they were truly living the dream.
