When I was young, I lived in the country and rarely saw the sea. But I remember one holiday near a lake, when my parents took us for a ride in paddle boats similar to these. Living on the Central Coast now, we have plenty of beautiful beaches and natural waterways to take advantage of. Seeing people having fun on Terrigal Lagoon in these colourful craft, brought back fond memories from my childhood and I wanted to immortalise the floating classics. I managed to meet up with the boats owner, who was gracious enough to allow me to position them in the lagoon to capture this image. Not long after this photo was taken, huge storms hit Terrigal and most of these craft were destroyed. It's important to capture an image when you feel the urge, for you may be preserving a precious piece of history.
