The Central Coast is renowned for its beautiful Gosford sandstone, which has been used in the construction of many of Sydney\'s notable buildings including the Town Hall. The area has many coastal sandstone outcrops like this one, each with a distinctive character developed through years of erosion by water, salt and sea breezes. This shot was taken from a beautiful outcrop of sandstone at Mt Ettalong Lookout looking down into Pearl Beach, an area that seems to have virtually stood still in comparison to the massive development in other parts of the Central Coast. The natural rocky platform provides a spectacular view of not only Pearl Beach, but of Lion Island and Broken Bay with the entrance to the Hawkesbury River visible in the distance.
