Half documentary, half graphic design, this unusual view from the edge of a sand cliff juxtaposes a massive ochre-red dune against a turquoise sea. The perspective is somewhat deceiving. Taken near Point Peron on the Western Australian coast, the angle belies the fact that the drop of the cliff is more than twenty metres. The waves, insubstantial to the eye, are at least four-footers; the larger rocks in the surf are the size of boats. Even the cliff appears here as no more than a line. How different the scene would be if the viewer peered right over the edge. Our perspective always changes with our position.
