This dreamy shot of the Twelve Apostles was first released as a specially licensed product for the 2000 Olympics. It shows one of Australias great natural icons in the early light of sunrise with a full moon glowing in the pastel sky. I was allowed to access this normally closed beach through an old tunnel which had been bored through the headland. Sadly this historic tunnel is no more, destroyed by authorities to prevent any further access to the beach. As a landscape photographer I understand more than most the need to preserve nature (this beach is an important Fairy Penguin colony). But I also understand the need for people to be able to connect with nature. Surely, in a place like this, there must be better ways of managing the public than simply locking them out?
