Sydney is renowned for its sea pools and here at Coogee, all is calm before the morning swimmers arrive to commence their daily exercise. The golden sun rises majestically over Sydney. Darkness is banished as the warming rays search the city. A new day has begun, bringing with it fresh hope and a wealth of possibilities. This shot was taken in the early 1990s and the scene has changed a lot since then. The sea pool still looks the same, but the surf lifesaving club was renovated in 2020. Many locals were not happy with the upgrade, insisting it made the club house look like a giant microwave. For those who want to reminisce on the good old days, this nostalgic image immortalises the club’s former glory.
