Shark Bay is a small, intimate haven near the lovely NSW coastal town of Broulee. I visited a few times, trying to decide how I would shoot it. To do it justice, I felt I needed to capture the whole bay - to connect people with the complete scene. On previous occasions I had not been happy with the light. But on this day I was blessed with spectacular conditions. I've called this image The Calm because that was the eerie reality of the moment. Despite the threat of an approaching storm, there was a peaceful serenity. Then a rainbow appeared in the sky, as if to assure me that all would be well. And so it was - the storm passed by with only a little rain. A couple enjoying a morning stroll on the beach shared this dramatic start to the day. As they passed by, they simply said, Wow!
