Water as smooth as velvet glides over moss-coated rocks in the Aire River. This secluded gully typifies the profusion of life that fills the temperate rainforests and eucalyptus bush along Victorias southwest coast. It is a tragedy that so many of these incredible areas have been lost. The Otway State Forest is under constant attack from the logging industry. Of course, we need wood, but all interests would be better served by creating a sustainable timber industry and leaving pristine wilderness alone. No longer should we cut down old growth forest. They are sanctuaries holy places and are our greatest treasure for the future.
