I love Karijini National Park s incredible network of ancient, deeply carved gorges and spring-fed waterfalls. I love the rich red colours of the iron ore in the rock and the banded layers caused by millennia of sedimentation. To me It's just like paradise. Yet, ironically, unless you knew these refuges were here, you could die of thirst in this otherwise hostile landscape. I also love the fact that Karijini is still open for adventure and exploring. I hope that continues to be the case for future generations.

Europeans often say Australia has no real history. We may not have broken down castles or pyramids, but we have ancient, natural history, untainted by the hands of man. In Europe and the Middle East I've seen some amazing man-made structures. But after my last visit to the Holy Land I realised that, for me, places like this are more of a sanctuary than any cathedral. Nothing makes me feel closer to the Creator than being in a place created by nature alone.
