When you reach Russell Falls - after a wonderfully scenic walk along a forest track - you quickly realise it is one of Tasmania's most beautiful natural icons. But as with other photographs I have taken there, this one took great patience to shoot. The gush of the air meant that the fern fronds were in an almost continual dance. I had to wait a long time for a lull. Yet it fascinated me that such a lull did come. After a long wait, there came a short period of stillness, and then I was able to capture this picture with the required depth of field. The double-tiered waterfall fell like silk through the frame of surrounding green. And there remained just the smallest bit of blur to lend a sense of motion to the whole scene.
