Opportunities often come at seemingly inconvenient times. When I heard great volumes of water were heading towards Lake Eyre, I was very busy on other projects. But I really wanted to see this amazing phenomenon and sometimes we just have to make time. So I carved out a small window of time and headed off. I thought the ideal time for photography would have been when the lake was full, but I didn't manage to get there until the water had started to recede. That timing turned out to be perfect, because the receding water and algae created beautiful colours and patterns in the drying salt. And in the midst of that is the deep blue channel called Warburton Groove. For me, this is a different style of image, as It's all about the textures and the colours painted by nature.
