This scene - typical of the country that inspired Albert Namatjira - was shot near Glen Helen in West MacDonnell National Park. It was one of those rare occasions when the Finke River was flowing here. But I almost missed this shot. Believe it or not, I had already packed up for the day and had gone back to Glen Helen Resort to relax, thinking the best of the light was over. I should have known better. Suddenly, at the resort, I saw the sky beginning to colour beautifully. I raced back to the location and was only just in time to shoot this spectacular view. It just goes to show how close the line between success and failure can be when trying to capture a unique moment of light.
