The remote region of Earnslaw Burn is one of many spectacular New Zealand locations utilised by producer Peter Jackson for his Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. I have titled this image as a tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien, author of the books on which those movies were based. Tolkien's books describe a mystical place called Middle Earth and I believe this is the sort of scene that would definitely fit the bill. Waterfalls abound as the melting ice from mighty Mount Earnslaw and Earnslaw Glacier carve their way through the magical valleys.
