The walk in to Glacier Grande, in a remote part of the El Chaltn region, was long, but spectacular. When we finally reached our overnight campsite, we all went exploring, preparing for sunset and looking for angles for sunrise the next day. Most people settled for shooting the glacial lake, with chunks of ice floating in it. But the light at that time didn't t really hold my interest, so I went searching for other angles and less obvious scenes. As I was trekking around the lake, I heard the sound of water running down in the valley below. It was hard going, as there was no real track, but the lure of the sound of running water made me press on. When I broke through onto a narrow forest path, I was presented with this interesting stream. The tall, narrow waterfall was like a long ribbon flowing down the mountain on its way to Laguna Torre. Next morning, I got my shots of the glacier, but to me, this shot is far more intimate.
