We were driving through Serengeti National Park in the beautiful warm light of late afternoon, when I saw this pair of regal looking giraffes framed against a vivid sky. We had been rushing back to our lodge to avoid the approaching storm, but decided we simply had to stop and capture this scene. I love the simplicity of this image with the golden grass in the foreground and the gathering storm clouds that provide a stunning backdrop. Shooting giraffes can be quite tricky as with their long necks they often get their heads into some unusual positions. This pair was very accommodating in giving us the two views - coming and going and all I had to do was wait until their heads were at the right angle to take the shot.
