As the time drew close for us to leave Bandhavgarh National Park on our last day, I was still hoping for an extraordinary tiger encounter. Our driver suggested we should go in search of three cubs sighted by other groups the previous day. When we reached the place where he decided we should wait, our driver eased forward - past everyone else - to a spot where he thought the cubs might come out of the bush. Suddenly, these three siblings came out onto a rock ledge not far from us and sat down to rest. Other drivers trying to get close for a photo opportunity were held back. We had a rare 15-minute window - long enough for the tigers to look our way. I love the varying degrees of alertness in these cubs - mild interest, acute interest and "potential dinner". So, never give up; often the best shots come right at the last minute.
