I love elephants. To me, they are the true kings of the jungle. I love the huge ears of the African elephant, which are shaped like the African continent. I also love the family dynamic of elephant herds especially the way they protect their young. The only ones who don t enjoy the protection of the herd are the young males, who tend to band together. This frisky young guy is trying to show us how tough he is, hopefully mock-charging our vehicle to try to scare us away. He would move in, step back, then sway back and forth as if performing an African war dance. It amazed me that he was so light on his feet. Then he started flapping his ears, showing he was agitated. Fortunately, he didnt t keep coming. Although he s not fully grown, he could have quite easily taken us out - and our vehicle.
