In wildlife photography, it is essential to achieve eye contact with your subject. Cats are always aware of your presence, but often give you only a cursory glance, without looking directly into the lens. But if youre patient, a cat will sometimes give you a piercing stare. When a big cat looks directly at you, it can be exhilarating, but also unnerving, because you have their full attention. They are analysing whether you are food or a potential threat. And when a cat does stare intensely, you sense its confidence in its own supremacy. Thats why Ive called this imageCaptivating. The tiger looks calm and content, but if he chose to attack, he would move like lightning. I decided to print this image in black & white because I feel the contrast of the stripes helps to accentuate the grandeur of this powerful animal.
